When launching Rescue My Shelter back in August 2017, we never anticipated the amount of engagement and participation that we received from shelters and their supporters.
Rescue® is excited to be able to continue to recognize shelters doing amazing things in the animal health community.
As our first winner of 2019, we are delighted to recognize the amazing Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando for all of the exceptional initiatives they consistently put in place to ensure that animals are provided a safe and compassionate outcome.
Founded in 1937 as the Orlando Humane Society, the Pet alliance of Greater Orlando has continuously worked to create more caring communities by promoting happier, healthier pets and their families, and making sure that this vision is prevalent in all their programs and initiatives.
Through the creation of exciting events such as Paws in the park – Orlando’s largest dog walk and pet festival, they are able to bring together pet lovers from all over Central Florida to support their mission to educate, shelter, place, and heal pets and their families with compassionate, responsible care. This year, they were able to surpass their fundraising goal of $125,000 – by raising $127,642.49, which will go towards providing support to more than 7,000 homeless pet who will be cared for at their two shelters.
As a proud Million Cat Challenger, in a bid to consistently support initiatives aimed at providing responsible care to pets, they recently launched the the Community Cat Initiative. By opening a Spay/Neuter Clinic in November 2018, this initiative was designed to reduce the number of unwanted kittens surrendered each year that are homeless. With an estimated 70,000 feral cats in Orange County, Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando has committed to performing these surgeries for the next 5 years.

It was for all these reasons and more that Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando was selected as our first #RescueMyShelter winner, and they will be receiving, courtesy of Rescue Disinfectants, a kit consisting of
